I named my bay and white walker, Chief Walking Horse. And when I ride him he wears an indian feathr in his bridle. He also has the face of an indian maiden on his side.

My Quarter-Arab was known as Dandy...I have no idea what his papers said. The little mare I am working with now is Rhiannon. We call her Reanna, but I think it is spelled like that singer. I just call her Missy Mare

Wow,,how did I miss this post,,?? lol,,This is awesome, gotta add the horses I had too,,, 1. Weed M Two Win -Appaloosa mare Barn name-Winnie 2. Wind Dancin Dreamer, APHA Stallion, Barn Name Toby-I bought him as a foal, and original papers had not been filed yet, but the folks that had owned him prior to me, had planned to name him, get this, "Blairless Toby" YUCK!!!,,I named him Wind Dancin Dreamer, because when I watched him in the fields, It looked like he was dancing in the wind, and Dreamer, because he was my dream come true. 3. Grace N Style, APHA/PTHA Mare, Barn Name Gracie, She was named when I bought her at 18 months, but the name to me was a joke,,cause her first day at our farm, she wanted to be right with us, litterally in the back of my pickup with us, and she ran into the tailgate and split her leg open,,Never seen that much "grace" before, lol,,she was fine though. 4. Ima Dreamers Maverick, APHA stud colt, my first colt out of Gracie and Toby, Barn name, Maverick, to me he definately had a mind of his own,,, 5. Dawns Graceful Dreamer, APHA Filly, second foal from Gracie and Toby, Barn name Dawn, Dawn for my daughter, and the rest is self explaintory, 6. Dreamin Texas Style, APHA Stud Colt, 3rd foal from Gracie and Toby, Barn Name, Dreamer. Named with the help of ES'rs who, after seeing his photos thought they made out the state of Texas in his pattern,,and he was born in Texas,,

dont have a horse right now but did have a couple. had a 3/4 morgan 1/4 appy named Corchina but had to change to Tina (Corchina in spanish means nasty pig) couldnt get used to calling her nasty when she was as sweet as could be. Had a shetland named Fat Albert, aptly named all you saw was his middle . had a 1/2 quarter 1/2 appy named Checker's Southen Belle. had a a pair of morgan work horses 1500 Lbs each named Whinnie and Winooski, then there was Duke a retired ex harness racer, and Dundy a grey dun yes he was grey but had a black stripe down his back after crocodile dundy, and Dandy a little icelandic pony, just a few of the names that either came with the horses we had or what we came up with.

Our Chestnut mare who we bought at 11 months old was named Rain but it did not stick, Some how she ended up being a Lucy, Loose for short. It's a blond thing my daughter says and it's because of her blond mane. She is three years old now and the best investment I have ever bought. She has taught my daughter and I so much and has been such a joy to train and grow with. My horse's name is Traveler. He was named before I got him by an cute elderly couple that had a little farm in Virginia. He was named Traveler because he came from Ohio and was dropped off at their farm at 4 days old. So by the time I bought him at age 4, he was a bottle fed/treat fed unbroke, very pushy brat. So Traveler kinda stuck but we call him Trav. I think he likes his name because he comes running out of a pasture of 15 other geldings. He also has a few other nick names like piggy, hay burner, beautiful, sunshine and there is always No ! Stop! Woa! Both our horses are the most awesome horses we could have. They have no paper trails but everybody at the barn are kinda of jelous on how our horses act, look and preform. They do not do anything special, but in what they do they give 100 % and never stop trying. My next horse is going to be named Allelujah!

My mare came already named---Teqita Skyline Joy....Teqita is the ranch name used for many generations...Skyline the middle name is for the stud Mr Skyline Peppy. I named her filly Teqita San Badger to keep both the mare and stud names but just call her Snip! Frosty is grade and I have no clue on blood lines so I went with color since he's white. I always like being able to tell the bloodlines thru the name. This is a great post to see all the creative ways people name their horses!

I named my stallion Tornado of Fire - He is out of Artic Fire and the star and strip on his face is shaped like a tornado. His barn name is Shadow because his mama is grey/white and he is too so when he was born he was solid black - he looked like a shadow on this mama. lol
