Apple cider vinegar for horses

We have used Braggs on our horses hooves. Our quarterhorse had a crack in his hoof and it had a little bit of bacteria growing in the hoof. Our ferrier recommended we get a shot (minus the needle) and use it to flush it out and then pick out the bacteria with a shoeing nail. Within a couple weeks it was all gone. Great stuff! NOTE: Our horses don't wear shoes, and this was a tip for our ferrier who also doesn't shoe horses, just does natural hoofmanship.

Does anyone know if this would work for mosquitos?? D.

Super ACV Please contact me at rockimount@hotmail.com All-natural fermentation of whole apples with 7% acetic acid. Centuries-old wisdom teaches us that naturally fermented whole, chemically free, raw apples can have tremendous health benefits for humans and animals. Grown and manufactured to stringent standards in the high elevations of Idaho where the air and water are fresh and clean. Super ACV is like no other product on the market today! Use it in your horses' feed for natural fly control Great for your skin and hair as a final rinse Helpful in your diet in pH balancing On Dieting and Help from Vinegar TO BE AVOIDED: Avoid the typical apple cider vinegar product that large grocery store chains carry. Instead, look for raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, available at many health food stores. HELP FOR JOINTS: "When acid crystals harden in the joints and tissues of any animal, the joints become stiff and the tissues become hardened. The meat becomes tough and tasteless. But, when the animals are given ACV regularly, the precipitated acid crystals enter into a solution and pass out of the body, thus making the body tissues healthier and tender. This applies to human flesh also. EXTRA BENEFITS: Animal proteins and fats have a tendency to thicken the blood. Blood has to circulate all over the body through the arteries, blood vessels and tiny capillaries, and it's impossible for blood to circulate freely through these incredibly thin pipes when it's thickened with too much protein. However, the natural acids in ACV help keep the blood healthier and thinner. It's been reported that soaring blood pressure can be dramatically reduced by a 48-hour fasting program with only ACV, raw honey and water (five glasses a day plus additional water) being taken; a longer program, without the fasting, is said to work just as well."

I bought some of the Organic Braggs today and put some in my horses water...I have four 20 gal tubs for water and put some in two to see what gets drunk the most....lplus using the recipe for fly spray so am curious to see how that does also.

Here's another one: After bathing w/a no-tears baby soap, I use a rag or sponge, and apply apple cider to the coat of my Aussie when he gets too close to a skunk! It really helps to reduce the odor to a tolerable level. Vicky

It really does work for carpets! It doesn't leave the 'vinegary' scent in your carpet like you might think. I use hot tap water, add 2 cups of the Braggs ACV. I dogsat awhile back and one of the dogs pee'd on the carpet in a couple of spots. It took out the stain and the smell very effectively! Also, as a tea, I add 2 tsp of the Braggs ACV to a cup of HOT water, a couple drops of cinnamon oil and sweeten with honey. Tastes alot like hot spiced apple cider with lots of health benefits!

Hummmmmm this is interesting. I need to clean my carpets plus get some for my mare. I am going to check some of the health food stores to see what they carry...

Most of the grocery store brands of ACV are pasteurized. Braggs, as pbear said, is the most known brand of un-pasteurized. It's cloudier than what we're used to buying, because, as she mentioned, it still has the "Mother" in it(Certified Bragg Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar is unfiltered, unheated, unpasteurized and 5% acidity. Contains the amazing Mother of Vinegar which occurs naturally as strand-like enzymes of connected protein molecules.). 2 cups of Braggs ACV added to the water in your carpet cleaning machine will make your carpets smell really sweet, and is especially good for pet odors.

Jules, I fed it and didn't get a colt or a filly. She absorbed it. But, IT'S GREAT! My horses were getting bitten up inside their ears and after a few (6) weeks the hair had all grown back and all the bloody scabs were gone. Haven't had a problem since.

i bet i am not alone in getting funny looks when i ckout w/4 gallons of vinegar in my cart:):):)!!!! been using this "expensive"--good for 100 reasons--stuff for years. has anyone used this as a factor in leaning the odds in favor of a filly being conceived?? i was told "old wives tale" and laughed at but the 4 mares i fed it to daily 60 days before breeding all had fillies and the folks that laughed at me got 2 colts and fed it the following season and got 2 fillies. anything to this??? i did not feed it to my big mare the yr i bred her and got a colt. (made a great gelding). just curious. i definitely keep it going as a great anticolic help. i just buy plain apple cider vinegar--a little stuff settles in it overtime. have also tossed in a can of frozen apple juice in their water when i am putting a little extra salt on their ration...any input on keeping these critters happy i appreciate. p.s. i know of someone who keeps it in their bucks water and has an 80-85% doe crop out of his goats each yr. i found that interesting.
