SPENCER - My 4 year old quarterhorse mare is Spencer. We got her from a friend for 50 bucks when she was just over a year. He hadn't named her. She was what I called a red white and blue roan. She was very mousey and had long ears. She reminded me of a mule in one of the kids books. The mule in the book is named Sylvester... but Spencer popped into mind. It seemed like the name for a clever unassuming type, which she is. She has finally grown into her ears, and is very clever. She is mostly grey now too, with some dapples on her butt.
SKIP is a 10 year old APHA mare. Her name on paper is Skip the Price. Isn't that just horrible!? Her sire was Price Tag, even worse! But I do like the name Skip.
BOOGIE - My first horse was a big Saddlebred cross paint. We named her Boogie. At the time I was working with this chick who called every body Boogie. "How ya doin' Boogie" she would say with a lispe. So that term of endearment was rolling around in my head when Boogie came into my life. She was very flashy and she really could boogie when she felt like it.
SILVER - We had the honor of having Silver, a solid white Ap, live with us for a couple years. He had an incredibly long and thick mane and tail with a lot of silvery white highlights. He would go through anything you asked of him. He was the babysitter. The kids could climb all over him nd he was cool. We painted him like a zebra the first Halloween he was with us. He won a trophy for that at the local kids rodeo.
BRUNO is a little mustang that recently moved on to a ranch in Mississippi. I had gotten him at auction and he came without a name. Bruno sounded short, solid and strong. Appropriate for him. It also has a macho sound to it, which he was very much so, until the vets visit! LOL But that didn't change his attitude much. All the mares in the NEIGH-borhood loved Bruno! A stud-pony for sure.
