Australian Saddles? Anyone using them?

I got mine in this week and can't wait to ride in it. :o) Bought it off www.tacktrader.com

I bought a used one Aussie stock saddle for my 16.1 hand TB and have used it about 6 months. I like it for trailriding - you can't get dislodged! Very comfy, fits my high withered TB to a T. I bought it a horse expo but the company is www.aussiesaddle.com.

That's great to hear......so what are your thoughts on these saddles?

If you have any questions about Australian stock saddles just holler. I'm a Saddler by trade. Barra.

Thanks for the information. I did some map reading and found that Denver was closer to me than CA so drove to Denver and spent the afternoon sitting on saddles. During the process learned a lot about the pros and cons of each saddle. My horses are mediun withered so some of Aussie saddles were 'off limits' as they were designed for more of a dip in the back of the horse after a high wither. I ended up getting the Down Under Snowy River Legend: http://www.downunderweb.com/store/Saddles_Aussie_DownUnder Have only had a chance to ride in it one time due to my work schedule and some rain and hail days (yup it does rain in NM). It does give a great secure seat. I got the upgraded sturrups with the one inch closed cell phone. Now I have to get over this dang sinus infection and get riding.

hello Baskhana, I have ridden in Aussie stock saddles all my life..my favourite was a Syd Hill stock saddle with a horn..I used it on alot of young horses and never ever came off a horse while riding in it..never had a problem rising to a trot..and rode from morning till night 7 days a week for 8 months on a droving trip..only thing wrong with it was that it was extremely heavy..it doesnt fit my QHs now, but I wont part with it. I bought a western saddle and tried it out a couple of times and havent used it since..my most recent purchase is a syd hill fender stock saddle that is synthetic and it fits my QHs and is almost as comfortable as my old syd hill.... I wouldnt ride in any other saddle...www.jamessaddlery.com.au/sydhill.htm my original saddle was a Suprema Giltrow Poley with a horn www.sydhill.com/sadis004br.html is my new synthetic saddle. The following site is worth looking at..http://www.sydhill.com/sydhill.html.

I just bought an Aussie Saddle and am looking forward to getting it. I sat on a few and really liked how they felt plus being lightweight. It is a "Handmade Outback Austrial Saddle - The Austrailan Stock Saddle" and has the Kangaroo (SP??) in the middle of the logo. Should be here the middle of next week....

Mary Ann, what is the brand and/or maker of the Snowy River I saddle that you decided on? What are the details of your research? There are so many "knock-offs" of the Aussie saddle. I'm sure there are a few of us here interested. Right? HDG

They look really comfortable so I am guessing they are?
