Brother Neil, we've had many a good times in Vegas and in TX. You were a great friend and never was one to minch words. Im sure thats why we got along so well, even after that tall tale from Vegas a couple years back. I'm sure you can now button your dam shirt sleeves w/o mine or aggies help. I'll keep the shovel handy just in case, but I'll NEVER STFU!!! Miss ya already... RIP my friend.

Gerts was one of the first people I met on ES. Although I know he is in a better place, I will still miss his gentle heart. Robin

This is a very sad day for me Neil. We lost contact for so very long while I had a man in my life for 4 years and I miss our conversations. You always were a sweetheart and never let on you were ill. One day all your ESer friends will be up there with you and we'll have one heck of a time laughing and cuttin up. I'll miss you but one day I too will join my dear friends. May comfort be with your family. Judy

My thoughts and prayers are with Neil's family. Neil was such a selfless, independent soul. I remember a couple of years ago at a ride in Texarkana, Neil had told me before hand that he was going to ride with us. When he showed up for the ride without his horse I cornered him and asked why. He told me that he was unable to swing the saddle up on the horse to saddle him. I told Neil any of us would have saddled the horse for him and he said if he couldn't saddle a horse he wasn't going to ride it. When I last spoke to Neil about 3 months ago, from the things he told me, I could tell his condition was worsening but never suspected his time would be so short. In our last conversation, I asked if there was anything he needed and he told me no he was doing just fine. I know he went through so much, but I never heard Neil complain. This world has lost a true gentlman and heaven has gained one. I'm happy to have known Neil. May he rest in peace. Kim

Ohhhh gerts, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that you won't be on here anymore. And I had absolutely NO idea you were getting so bad, because you didn't want anyone to know. I'm going to miss our talks, especially the parts where you would call me a "Dang Okie" and how the air started smelling bad once you crossed the state line into Oklahoma. I'd always say you were just jealous. LOL You always asked how my girls were doing, even how the dogs were doing. Even though you said the dogs belonged outside and not in the house. My dear friend, you will be missed terribly but I know you wouldn't have wanted your health to decline further. You would have been miserable and not want to be a "burden" to anyone. I tried to call on Sunday. Now I know why you didn't call back. I could kick myself a thousand times for not getting in touch sooner, while I had the chance. Now I'll have to live with that until I have the chance to say I'm sorry. You were a good friend to me and I wasn't there for you in the last days. I hope you can hear me tell you now how much I appreciate your friendship and all the kind words and encouragement when I was down and worried and stressed. May you rest in peace my dear friend. You will be missed by many. Love, Debbie (the "Dang Okie")

What can I say? Sometimes you can just 'feel' what a person's true character is, by the way they speak and conduct themselves toward you. Neil was a true gentleman. He gave me good solid advice about cattle. He listened to me and offered friendship. He knew a family here in our county who raises reg SG cattle, so we swapped stories about them. I'm gonna miss you Gertrude; it was a blessing and a privilege to be your friend. You are one more reason to look forward to that Great Reunion that is coming one day. God bless you, Neil. And may God comfort your loved ones. ~Sandra
