Southside Place, TX Yes old world remidies like Bakingsoda work wonders.
- important is stick to a dosage just as you would with medicine.
- also buy only the food grade aluminum free baking soda.
the heavy metal aluminum has many bad side effects on
all living things.
Magnesium Malate helps also with the digestion. That's what I use even on me combined with non toxic Epson Salt baths.
I used to bath my stallions legs or give him a pure epson salt rundown. Remember anything put on the skin enters the bloodstream.
Today they put in many products " Magnesium Stearate" stay away from it and only use if it is a " Vegetable Magnesium Stearate". Always look at " other ingredient list" as well.
A great series on YouTube is : The Truth About Pet Vaccines"
It's 10 hours of top research and worth it!!!
Inoculations are not today's vaccines and most vets are unaware of the toxic substances added in each shot, that can cause your horses liver to break down, colic, even blindness.
Don't trust, edjucate yourself.

When I was running TBs one of the owners requested we put a teaspoon of Baking Soda in his filly's feed, day and night... the reason? Baking Soda releases lactic acid which when it builds up creates cramping... the last thing you need in a horse running a race...
Have you Googled "Baking Soda and Horses" yet? This is the first thing that it shows...
Baking soda does buffer stomach acid, but it breaks down too quickly to interfere with digestion. And once the sodium bicarbonate breaks down, the stomach acid builds back up to its normal level. The rapid breakdown of sodium bicarbonate also makes it an ineffective antacid to guard the horse's stomach against ulcers.
You have to use your own judgement yah or nay... Syc |

Olinda, CA I read recently that if you sprinkle it on weeds, they will die. My test yielded an 80% success rate. I wouldn't try it on a horse...
Baking soda isn't about muscle relief. Its not in the same realm as glucosamine & chrondrotin, ester C, msm, yucca, etc.
Little has a stong point about changing acidity, after all what would a horse be without a happy gut? A nightmare (no pun intended)! And we've all been there at least once...
Look into yucca and ester C. for better choices. |

Haysville, KS I have never heard anything, but I would caution it use as it can alter the acid/base balance. We use it in the hospital to reverse/prevent acidosis. It is also used as an acid neutralizer for indigestion. |

Baking soda has a lot of uses, I want to know if anyone has heard of adding a couple tablespoons to a horses feed to help the ole gent or lady with their old muscles?
Looking forward to responses.
